Dhanush,Simbu clash!

It looks like it will be a direct clash between Dhanush and Silambarasan at the summer box-office.

Sun Pictures the market leader is likely to release their Maapillai which has Dhanush and Hansika in the lead on April 8.A day later on April 9, Silambarasan's multi-starrer Vaanam distributed by Cloud Nine is scheduled to release.

As per trade sources Sun Pictures has blocked April 8 for Mapillai and May 6 for Engeyum Kathal, clearly giving both the films a decent gap of four weeks. Sun Network will aggressively promote both the films, which carry good reports.

Meanwhile producer Madan has said that his Vaanam, post-production work is going on in full swing, and the first copy should be ready by April first week. Says Madan: "We are on schedule and should release
Vaanam on April 9, a very good date if all goes well."

Cloud Nine have snapped up their Vaanam!

Silambarasan and his producer Ganesh of VTV productions and Magic box Pictures are flying high after Dhyanidhi Alagiri and his Cloud Nine have snapped up their Vaanam.

After the success of Thoonga Nagaram, Cloud Nine Movies have got another winner in Vaanam.

The film directed by Krish is a remake of his own 2010 Telugu trendsetting hit Vedam.

Vaanam has Silambarasan, Bharath, Anushka, Prakash Raj and Saranya in the lead roles.

Top class technicians like Yuvan Shankar Raja (Music), Nirav Shah (Cinematography) and Anthony (Editing), are involved with film. 

The film is jointly produced by Ganesh Janardhanan and R. Ganesh.

A spokesperson of VTV Production said: "We are off to a very good start with Cloud Nine marketing the film. The association has just taken the project to the next level with the calibre they have. It's been a great pleasure to work with the huge star cast in the film. The talkie portions of the film have been completed, after the massive hit of the single song that was already launched; a strategically promotional concept tried by us for the very first time in Tamil Industry, Yuvan has finished composing 4 more terrific songs. The audio release would happen very shortly."

Simbu or Karthi in Dabangg remake?

Dabangg is setting new records not only in Bollywood, but also in Tamil and Telugu. With Dabangg opening to an overwhelming response, the enthusiasm to acquire the Tamil and Telugu remake rights has increased overnight. In fact, producer Arbaaz has already received several lucrative offers for the same.

The latest buzz is that Kollywood producers Mohan Apparao and T. Ramesh have purchased the remake rights of Dabangg for a whopping amount, the highest ever paid for a remake. Sources say that they are in talks with Karthi and Simbu to play the role of Chulbul Pandey. But the grapevine has it that Simbu is likely to star in this comedy-action musical entertainer.

Dhanush and Simbu will clash once again?

It is almost confirmed that one time bitter foes now good friends Dhanush and Simbu will clash once again. Yes, two of their eagerly awaited films Maapillai and Vaanam respectively are scheduled to  release on April 8, 2011!

As per our trade sources, Sun Pictures have told their regular set of theatres and distributors to take Maapillai booking from April 8. Meanwhile Ganesh the producer of Vaanam feels that April 8 is one of summer 2011's best dates to release a film.

The world cup finals would be over on April 2 and the IPl would just have started and interest on cricket will be low after the world cup. The Tamil Nadu 2011 assembly elections though dates are yet to be announced are likely to be in the last week of April. 

Simbu injured during vaanam shooting

Silambarasan, who recently suffered injuries while shooting for ‘Vaanam’, is now ready to undergo a surgery. But nothing to worry about it, as it is to remove foot corns that the actor has developed.

“Doctors have advised STR to remove foot corns with an operation at the earliest. Though the procedure will be over in hours, they have asked him to be on rest for a couple of weeks,” sources say.

This, it is said, will have an impact on the release of ‘Vaanam’, which is scheduled for the Valentine’s Day weekend. “Attempts will however be made to release the film as soon as possible,” they add.

Saying that STR was suffering from foot corns for quite some time now, sources said he however managed to take part in shootings and other functions. “He is now going under the scalpel as per doctors’ recommendations.”

Bharath unhappy with his role!

Young actors Simbu and Bharath, who co-star in the upcoming Vaanam, are reported to be on less-than-cordial terms. It was spoken in Kollywood circles that Bharath is unhappy with his role in the movie, which is of lesser importance compared to Simbu's.

Bharath even kept away from a recent promotional event of the movie. When the media asked him about his absence, Bharath asserted that he was too busy with other projects to appear in the said promotional event. The actor also denied being unhappy with his role.

Simbhu “My presence of mind that saved me”

It was a freak mishap for STR alias Silambarasan on Friday night when he was shooting for ‘Vaanam’ on the busy lanes of Triplicane in Chennai.

According to sources, the actor was riding on a two-wheeler he lost balance all of a sudden and fell down. “However, smart Silambarasan got up immediately sensing that a lot of vehicles were coming from behind,” they say.

The actor, who had an injury on his head and bruises in some parts of the body, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors, who gave him first aid, asked STR to be on rest for few days.

“I am okay now. I think it was my presence of mind that saved me. Otherwise, vehicles behind would have run over me,” he says, adding a major part of the movie has been shot but for a song.

A remake of Telugu hit ‘Vedam’, ‘Vaanam’ directed by Krish, has Silambarasan, Anushka, Bharath, Sneha Ullal, Prakash Raj, Sonia Agarwal and Vega in lead roles. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Simbhu not happy with the performance of a popular comedian!

Silambarasan’s pet project ‘Vaanam’ hasn’t failed to be in the news at regular intervals all through its making. Be it for the heroine or the second hero or for the recently much hyped single track release. ‘Vaanam’ is aiming the sky.

The film is again in the news and this time for its comedian. Buzz says that Silambarasan is not happy with the performance of a popular comedian who worked in the film and has instructed the director to re-shoot the entire comedy portions again with Santhanam.

Santhanam who is the hottest comedian of the day agreed to adjust his dates to accommodate ‘Vaanam’ but not before cleverly hiking his fee. It’s urgent not ordinary you see.

Vaanam’ is the remake of the Telugu blockbuster ‘Vedam’. It is a multi starrer film with Silambarasan, Anushka, Bharath, Vega, Prakash Raj and Sonia Agarwal in main roles. ‘Vaanam is expected to release early 2011.

Simbu’s 'Vettai Mannan' shooting started!

Simbu's next film 'Vettai Mannan' has started off with the first phase of its shooting schedule. Vettai Mannan is said to be a high budget movie and is directed by debutant Nelson, who is a long time associate of Simbu. Nelson had worked with Simbu in movies like Manmadhan and Vallavan.

Nelson is said to have approached Simbu with the script during the shoots of 'Vaanam'. Simbu after hearing the script narration has immediately waved green signal to the project. One of the greatest strength for 'Vettai Mannan' is that, NIC Arts Chakravarthy is producing the film.

The movie is said to be a comedy thriller and actor Jai will be playing a pivotal role alongside Simbu, according to the sources. The script demands three heroines out which one will be roped in from Bollywood. After completing Poda Podi completely Simbu will enter Vettai Mannan in full swing. The actor also said that he has ideas of reviving his dropped out 'Kettavan' project. The music director and other casts have not yet been offcially confirmed.

Dhanush and Simbu who were assumed to follow the footsteps of Ajith Kumar and Vijay in film rivalries are proving it to be wrong. At the initial stages friction between the relationship of Simbu and Dhanush did exist. But in the recent times the youngsters are turning the story the other way round.

Simbu and Dhanush were present at the preview show of 'The Social Network' movie at Satyam Cinemas, Chennai. Both the stars spotted each other and shared lighter moments. The actors posed patiently for the press and were discussing many things with a big smile in their faces.

Silambarasan impressed by Street Dance 3D!

Street Dance 3D is a British film and as the name indicates it is 3D effects movie. This is perhaps the first time that a dance film has been made in 3D. Silambarasan had watched the film earlier and when he was in the UK, invited the dancers over for a special dinner to honor them.

Street Dance 3D will be released in India this Diwali. And Real Image is leaving no stone unturned to take this film to the villages and suburban areas. They have decided to hire the 3D projectors to these theatres at a very low cost to ensure that the audiences enjoy the film.

Mayajaal and Devi Theatres in Chennai, which will screen this film, have special equipments to make this film an enjoyable experience to the audiences.
